Mission Statement

The Hardin County Amateur Radio Emergency Communications is a group of Amateur Radio operators who have volunteered their time, equipment, and expertise in the community interest by providing emergency communications support for Hardin County and its citizens through our affiliation with the Hardin County Office of Emergency Management and other Public Safety and Public Service organizations.

The primary purpose of the Hardin County (Kentucky) Amateur Radio Emergency Communications is to provide communications for public service in time of need.  The role of this organization is not to replace, but to augment existing communications systems.  To this end, the organization will provide training in emergency communications and related subjects for licensed Amateur Radio operators and other interested personnel. A communications emergency is said to exist when “customary communications” are interrupted or overloaded.

The Hardin County Amateur Radio Emergency Communications will, to the best of its ability, provided needed communications for governmental and private agencies on request.  All activities and communications are conducted under Part 97 of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Rules and Regulations without compensation and in the public interest.
